Sen. Arnold has introduced SB 6 concerning animal fighting contests. Essentially, it elevates the penalty for attending such a contest to the same level (Level 6 felony) as having an animal in the contest. Under current law, it’s a lesser penalty (Class A misdemeanor, “cruelty to animals.”)
My initial reaction is mixed on this. On one hand, I’m asking, “You mean we don’t already have a law against that?” On the other, I ask, “You mean we NEED a law against that?”
Oops. Read it too quickly. It just elevates the penalty.

Maybe they’ll work it out in committee!
