I’ll admit it, I use an HP RPN scientific calculator. What scared me the other day though is that I looked up my model on E-bay, and versions of it were selling for over $400. I paid $60 for it new.
But there was no question for those of us who keep a working OS/2 computer around just for playing early versions of Galactic Civilizations.
A quick nerd test (for those over say 35) would be to ask what drivers they selected to load into high memory on their DR-DOS PC, or to quickly explain EMS LIM 4.0, to a MAC user.
Yeah, HP nuked their scientific calculator department during the reign of then-CEO Carly Fiorina — a decision which cemented her unpopularity with engineers nationwide.
The stock market loved her, though. For a while at least.
I scored a 92!! I feel so special!
96. Is that cause for celebration or shame?
I scored “Not nerdy, but definitely not hip” – so I think the test is pretty accurate.
I scored a perfect 10. No surprise.
76 myself. I’m sure my use of Windows hurt my score…
84. Pretty accurate. I think I was hurt by Windows use as well.
99%, Argh! I better roll 1d20 damage and hope for the best….

OS/2, wow. Best I can do is point to the Commodore 64 in my attic.

Of course, I use a mac and that makes me less nerdy that all the Windows users.
But nowhere near as nerdy as an OS/2 user.
Yeah, but I did play Demon’s Forge & Rogue on an IBM XT.
I may (have) use(d) OS/2, but my score “only” came to 72!
