The Journal & Courier is reporting that a Hammond attorney was arrested at the Tippecanoe County courthouse for being drunk at a 11 a.m. hearing. Peter Katic, 53, was also a state representative in the 70s and 80s.
Katic, a Democrat, served three terms as a state representative, beginning in 1978. He was a Lake County deputy prosecutor when elected. Katic also was a Lake County commissioner in the ’90s.
Katic had a flask of whiskey in his pocket and had bloodshot eyes, a flushed face, and breath smelling of alcohol. He blew a .20.
Folks, the booze can really grab hold of some people. Be careful out there.
I grew up in Hammond way back when, so needless to say this story is blowing my mind.
Nothing surprises me in Lake County anymore!
Sober as a Judge, your honor!
