Tony Dungy will be stepping down as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts after seven years, seven trips to the playoffs, and ninety-two victories, including one Super Bowl win. He will be replaced by Colts’ associate head coach, Jim Caldwell.
Thanks, Coach Dungy, for all the wins and an organization of which Hoosiers can all be proud.

I admire and respect Coach Dungy, He’ll be missed for sure.
Now, anybody got any bright ideas on a replacement??

I heard that the job was pre-promised to one of the assistants.

Jim Caldwell’s only head coaching experience in college Wake Forest where he compiled a record of 26-63. Coach Dungy is a decent fellow but I think he has always underachieved in the playoffs 9-10. The 2005 team should have won the superbowl instead of being defeated in their own building by the STEELERS.
One thing I heard on ESPN from John Clayton is that Caldwell wants to get bigger on the defensive line. Amen to that. That said many of the COLTS playoff defeats are on the shoulders of the high priced offense. The offense is responsible for over 70% of the salary cap I believe and has continually come up small in the playoffs. Say goodbye to Marvin Harrison he’s gone unless he takes a pay cut.

Not surprising. Seems that most people had Dungy out the door as of last week.
