A little advice

by Doug on October 24, 2008

Here is a little advice – not even legal advice, just common sense, I would think. Let’s say you are a Republican county election clerk. And, let’s say you have two employees who voted for Barack Obama in the Democratic primary. Now, here’s my advice: don’t leave letters on their desks referring to Obama as the “black Adolph Hitler.” If only I’d written this earlier, perhaps Jill Jackson, Johnson County election clerk, wouldn’t have made exactly that mistake. Could happen to anyone, I guess.

Should you even accept comments for a post that already invokes Godwin’s Law?

Or does that have to happen in a comment?

Some days it feels like we’re so far past Godwin, I don’t know what to think. I actually happen to be acquainted with Mike Godwin and could probably ask him, but I’m sure he has better things to do.

By now there’s gotta be a law on Godwin’s Law, huh? I liked the line in the news article where it says her action “taints Jackson’s ability to appear unbiased in administering this year’s election.”

“appear” unbiased. Tough when you can’t even fake it.

There has to be a way to have elections run by folks who aren’t so invested in the political process. I hadn’t thought about it until Cruella DeVille’s performance in Florida 2000, but since then, it’s been on my mind. I haven’t come up with any great solutions though, mind you.

So..I’m two degrees away from Godwin… sweet!
